North Miami is one of the best terrazzo neighborhoods in the county and one of the least aware of it. The housing stock is heavily mid-century, built exactly in the decades when poured terrazzo was standard, and a large proportion of those original floors are still sitting intact underneath carpet, vinyl or a later tile job.

That makes the first question here different from anywhere else. Before quoting a new floor, it is worth opening a small test area to find out what is already there, because restoring original terrazzo frequently costs less than installing new tile and produces a far better result. Where terrazzo is not present or not salvageable, the work is the standard older-Miami pattern: layered previous floors to remove, adhesive to strip, and a slab that will need testing and levelling before anything new goes down.
